Designer Notes
In hopes of being selected for a U.S. Open, our client asked us to completely rebuild Torrey Pines South. We relocated greens closer to the canyons, re-contoured all greens to provide multiple pin placements, repositioned bunkers for stronger players with more advanced equipment, and added over 500 yards of length. In 2002, Torrey Pines was chosen to host the 2008 U.S. Open.
Golf course improvements are scheduled for implementation in 2018 and 2019, prior to the 2021 U.S. Open Championship. Proposed work includes the installation of a new irrigation system, rebuilding all sand bunkers, relocating select bunkers, resurfacing and leveling several tees, adding select forward tees, regrading all green approaches and repositioning some fairways to bring the natural canyons more into play
