Client Course Description

If there is anywhere on the Point where pictures are worth 1,000 words it is our Rees Jones masterpiece. The design and physical beauty are breathtaking, and both contribute to an incomparable experience. Even in a region recognized for landmark golf courses, Haig Point consistently draws accolades and hosts noteworthy tournaments.  First designed in 1986, the initial routing included 20 holes, including the two extra greens. Jones’ returned to Daufuskie Island in 2007 to restore the greens and sharpen the course’s legacy as one of the best in the nation. Yardage increased from 7,150 to 7,380 and improved our USGA rating.

Designer Notes

The Haig Point Club is an exclusive, private club located on Daufuskie Island, SC, a short ferry ride across the Calibogue Sound from Hilton Head Island, SC.

The Club features a 29-hole Rees Jones design comprised of the “Signature” 20-hole course and the “Osprey” 9-hole course. Each course features the option of playing the more challenging “Calibouge” layout, or the traditional “Haig” alternative.

“I had never seen a property quite like Haig Point… with such a pristine setting and all the elements to create a great golf course,” Jones has said of Haig Point. “It has the ocean, the sound, the marshes, fantastic vegetation … I knew when I first saw it we could build a world-class golf course.”

The course is one that maximizes its location. Many of the holes feature coastline, wetlands and an exceptional blend of mature vegetation. “The Haig Point Club is just a great mixture of spectacular views and golf,” said a TravelGolf.com writer.

We have recently collaborated with the club to develop a long range master plan for both courses that will be implemented between 2026 – 2028. The comprehensive scope of work includes a variety of infrastructure improvements related to tees, greens, bunkers, fairway and rough regrading, drainage, irrigation and regrassing. In addition, 21 new forward tees will be added to the Osprey Nine enabling each hole to be played as a par 3 from one of three different tee locations.
