Client Course Description

Established in 1921, Hodogaya Country Club is considered one of Japan’s oldest and most prestigious golf clubs. The course was Japan’s first full-scale championship golf course. Originally designed by Akahoshi Shiro, Hodogaya Country Club has a long and rich history in Japanese golf. In 1926, the club hosted the first Japan Golf Championship won by Akahoshi Shiro. Prominent American pros have visited the club such as Walter Hagen in 1930 and Arnold Palmer in 1971.

Designer Notes

Using old photos and other pertinent historical information, Designer is working with the club to developing a long range master plan to help guide the club in a complete restoration of the golf course while also updating the golf course features to today’s standards.
