Designer Notes

Three Ponds Farm, built on a private estate in the Hamptons, is an inventive layout that highlights the way a dramatic golf course can utilize a small property. The routing traverses the 35 acres contained within the property in multiple ways.  The combination of using ground contours, varied teeing grounds, a wide range of bunker placement, and diverse greens makes each of the holes unique. The golf course can be played in multiple different configurations as a legitimate USGA rated golf course with a wide-ranging mix of par threes, fours and fives suitable for golfers of all skill levels.

The golf course is built on rolling terrains and consists of elevated tees, broad bunkers and large undulated greens.  A typical nine-hole course would have the player go around twice to play a full 18 holes. At Three Ponds Farm, through innovative routing and imaginative use of its teeing areas, fairways, greens and the holes cut on them — along with some changes in direction — the golfer can actually play a 6,400-yard, par-71 course.  The course can also be played as a 12 hole short course that is suitable for all skill levels.
