On a blustery but sunny April morning, the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort had the official Re-Opening celebration for its award winning Blue Top Ridge golf course. In 2008, four holes on the course were lost to flooding from the bordering Iowa River.
Master designer, Rees Jones designed four new holes for the course on some upland terrain, making it slightly shorter, but more challenging.
Casino CEO, Dan Kehl, was the M.C. and gave many accolades to all the planners, designers, and operators that make the golf course one of the most award winning in the Midwest.
Rees Jones was on hand, as well as several other celebrities, including local favorites Dr. Tom Davis, Nate Kaeding, and Bob Brooks, plus golf legends J.C. Snead and Bobby Clampett.
Over 100 golf enthusiasts walked the new holes with the celebrity players, with the sounds of bagpipes wafting over the wind. After a luncheon, attendees got a chance to play some early season golf themselves. The new holes and the entire course are in magnificent shape.
Blue Top Ridge is a great facility to have in Washington County, and in Eastern Iowa.
