Client Course Description
Just a short 35-minute drive from downtown Chattanooga, McLemore is a planned mountaintop, upper/upscale hotel and conference center located on beautiful Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
Located along the eastern cliff edge of Lookout Mountain, The Keep is designed as a walkable, mountaintop golf experience laid out by Rees Jones, Steve Weisser and Bill Bergin. Legendary golf course architect, Rees Jones, commented during the 2021 U.S. Open that The Outpost “could host a major.” The Keep promises to be one of the most scenic and enjoyable courses to play in the southeast, and opened in the Fall 2024.
Designer Notes
Collaborating with golf course designer Bill Bergin, The Keep takes advantage of the natural characteristics and views the site offers including five holes located on the property’s cliff edge. All holes have a view of McLemore Cove and Pigeon Mountain. The golf course features dramatic and open views, making it an ideal natural spectator course. The landscape features five converging streams creating multiple visible waterfalls, enhancing the golfing experience. Ancient boulders and rock outcroppings define areas of play, frame natural tee grounds, and encircle the 17th green. Water features from natural streams provide irrigation and add strategic elements to the course.
